About

Our Name.

The name Huega is a play on the Danish term hygge - a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being. Combining the idea of a nail polish color - hue - with the concept of hygge, Huega was created.

Our Mission.

Most nail salons expose customers and employees to harmful chemicals that are linked to respiratory illness, skin disorders, hormone disruption, infertility, and cancer. Many gel and acrylic nails are non-biodegradable and considered toxic waste.

At Huega, we believe we are all hue-mans and we promote a hygge-centric lifestyle and natural nail care.

We do things much different because we believe self-care should be good for both you and the environment. All aspects of the Huega experience have been carefully designed for this purpose - sustainably sourced, eco-friendly, and with hygge in mind.

Our nail rescue program practices conscious consumption.

Our salon features sustainably sourced furniture made from natural materials, pipeless pedicure tubs, and reusable tools.

Our polishes and gels are free of the top seven most harmful toxins (7-free).

Our Huega line of products are made in-house with minimal natural ingredients and essential oils free of synthetic fragrances.

Meet the Owners.

Angela Smith

Angela Smith spent her childhood in Colorado, the oldest of three daughters. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She worked for a CPA firm outside of Denver for ten years before branching out her own with a bookkeeping business, AC2 Inc. In 2020, Angela and her son moved to Bentonville with the intention of expanding her mother’s eco-friendly nail salon.

Karen Duncan

Karen Duncan grew up in Arkansas with a love of art. When she graduated high school, she left the hills of the Ozarks for the mountains of Colorado. She raised three daughters, opening several businesses along the way. She obtained her nail technician license in 2009, looking to combine her love of art with her entrepreneurial spirit. With a mindfulness for sensitive skin and natural wellness, she decided she would open her own nail studio and make her own products using minimal, natural ingredients. In 2017, she moved to Northwest Arkansas and opened a nail studio alongside her brother’s barbershop. When her daughter Angela moved to the area in 2020, they combined their strengths and designed a first-of-its-kind in the area natural nail care studio centered around a hygge-centric lifestyle. It was then that Huega was born.

Are you ready to feel hue-man again?
